20 Years of Design

Being in business 20 years does give a designer pause for thought. A vast number of wedding gowns designed for collections over the years (probably nearing 400 if we’re counting) alongside unique pieces for private commissions, means Stewart Parvin HQ has a pretty impressive archive room stuffed to the brim with 20 years of design history. Here are some of our favourites..

Sometimes, the only thing that will do is a proper, formal, stunningly chic wedding dress – and our Lost In You has it all. Silk Mikado is a divine fabric, it has substance, texture and makes up into the most elegant of wedding gowns – princess seams running through the bust to the hem of the dress draws the eye in and elongates the silhouette – absolutely exquisite.

Lace is synonymous with bridalwear – stunning fishtails in corded Alencon lace are a classic and absolute favourite of lots of brides, but why not try something a little different? When the Morning Comes was a special piece Stewart designed for our bridal boutique on Beauchamp Place – a beautifully  flowing gown, with a full hem and fitted through the body, with a super low back and the lightest sheer lace sleeve. The boat neckline sits just below the collarbone in a seriously sophisticated take on a classic lace gown.  A bridal gown with a sleeve? Tres Chic…

If you’re after a soft floaty Grecian style for your wedding gown – you can’t go far wrong with Day Dreaming.. multiple layers of frothy georgette over slinky silk satin creates a heavenly, draped skirt and the ruching on the waist and bust, delicately pleated, define the waist perfectly….greek goddess meets boho glam at its very finest..

And Stewart himself? We asked him..

“For me its less about specific gowns that I’ve designed and love (although there are a few of course that will always be special to me) and more to do with the evolution of each collection – features we’ve used on the dresses that elevate them from the previous collection, still timeless, but  distinct in their own way.  The 50’s cuff for example I have used a couple of times– most recently on this fabulous silk Mikado gown called “in the still of the night”. It’s a very understated gown by anyone’s standards – the cut of the gown is hugely flattering,  gently flaring over the hip, but cinching in the waist just the right amount, and the addition of the cuff onto the neckline, instantly gives it a 50’s feel, and a really sophisticated edge.”

Coming Soon – The Stewart Parvin Autumn/Winter 2015 Womenswear Collection

The minds and machines have been whirring at a particularly busy rate in SPHQ over the last month as the new Autumn/Winter 2015 collection materialises…  Our London studios are buzzing and filled with half-dressed mannequins draped in the most amazing creations.

From Stewart’s real life Pinterest board of fabric swatches, magazine tear outs and raw sketches, come the most beautiful designs for your winter wardrobe: chic double breasted, fur collared coats, silk cocktail dresses and cashmere knits.  Printed silk blouses to be worn with elegant cigarette pants in the finest grey wool are just a couple of favourites soon to be gracing the rails of Motcomb Street.

Stewart has created smart, sophisticated and ultimately flattering shapes true to his signature aesthetic, using hand selected Italian and French fabrics in new vibrant colours and contrasting chic neutrals.  There are wool crepes, ultra-fine georgette silks and velvets in rich garnet reds, harlequin greens and cerise pinks.  Stewart has mixed these vivid hues with soft ecrus, greys and camels in wools, alpaca and cashmere silk mixes in the form of less formal jackets and coats; perfect for a cosy throw on.

The collection will be available in the Motcomb Street Womenswear Boutique from early September.  Book your appointment to view it today.
